Who We Are
Bet On Us' Mission
Bet On Us is a youth-founded, youth-led nonprofit working to close the opportunity gap for community college students. Through scholarships, career connections, and transfer guidance, we help students overcome financial and structural barriers so they can successfully continue their education and reach their goals.
Our goal is to help students overcome financial and structural barriers that often prevent them from completing their education, resulting in a targeted 10-20% increase in successful transfers and degree completion among the students we serve.
We believe in a future where:
- Community college students are financially equipped and prepared to transfer to a university.
- Students feel supported, empowered, and confident enough to bet on themselves and their future success,
- Successful transfer rates from community colleges reach at least 40% across Texas, helping thousands more students complete their degrees.
How It Started
Bet On Us was founded after our founder, Kanae Wise, began interviewing community college and transfer students across Texas and the United States. These conversations revealed the barriers many stuednts face when trying to transfer or access opportunities.
In Fall 2025, Bet On Us was launched by a group of student leaders determined to help close that gap.
